Shemin’s Tandoori Chicken

Homemade tandoori chicken is fantastically easy to do. Tender and succulent with a hint of spice, a great recipe for the BBQ in summer or to make under the grill or in the oven. You can make a super quick version of this with just our Tandoori Blend, yoghurt, ginger, garlic and salt as the marinade, it is still very delicious. Try this recipe with Shemin’s Curry Powder too.

Shemin's Tandoori

Shemin’s Tandoori Spice Blend is a bold, fragrant mix of spices with a warming heat and real depth of flavour. Earthy and aromatic, it brings a rich, authentic tandoori taste to meat and vegetables. Perfect for adding colour and flavour to everyday cooking.

Ingredients

  • 3 Spring onions, sliced thinly
  • 1 tbsp Crushed garlic
  • 3 tbsp Shemin’s Tandoori Spice Blend
  • 2 tbsp Fresh chopped coriander
  • 1 tbsp Fresh chopped mint
  • large pinch Salt (optional)
  • 2 tbsp Creme fraiche or natural yoghurt
  • 1 tbsp Single cream
  • 2 Fresh chillies, sliced (optional)
  • 700g Boneless chicken thighs or breast, cut into large chunks or strips

Cucumber & Mint Raita

  • 250ml Natural yoghurt
  • ½ Cucumber, finely chopped
  • handful Mint leaves, chopped
  • large pinch Salt
  • 1 Fresh chilli, finely chopped (optional)

How to make Shemin’s Tandoori Chicken

  1. Mix all the ingredients apart from the chicken together in a large glass bowl. Add the chicken to the mixture and coat well. Leave to marinate for at least a couple of hours.
  2. Cook on a high heat on the BBQ or under the grill on high, turning occasionally until slightly charred and cooked through. If using the oven, then cook for 20 mintues at 100°C / 180 Fan / 400°F / gas mark 6 and then check if done.
  3. Make the cucumber and mint raita by mixing together all the ingredients.
  4. Serve with rice or in a roti/naan with salad and the raita on top to create a kebab house Chicken Shish style wrap.

  • To make this recipe 0 syns, use fat free yoghurt and skip the single cream!
  • You can make a super quick version of this with just yoghurt, ginger, garlic and salt as the marinade. Squeeze some lemon over before serving.
  • Try this exact recipe with Shemin’s Curry Powder too.
  • Use this marinade for other meats and vegetables, it will work great. Also try it with meat alternatives if you are vegetarian.
